Dear customer,
I hope you paid us a visit at Storage Expo BE in Brussels last month. If you didn't, here's a quick recap of some cool new technologies that we showcased at the conference.
The new Sun Video Surveillance Solution attracted lots of attention. This innovative system is based on our Sun Fire X4500 data server with up to 48 TB of onboard storage, with video surveillance software from Sun partner ipConfigure and cameras from Axis.
What's Sun doing in video surveillance? It's simple. The demand for the security that only video surveillance can supply is growing at government agencies, airports and other transportation hubs, utility infrastructure systems, campuses, and other areas.
Our Sun Fire X4500 (named InfoWorld's Best Storage Server of 2008) is perfectly suited for the task, with blazing fast performance and 48 TB of storage. And it's one-third the cost of comparable solutions and available in a new pre-built Sun reference architecture.
We also spotlighted our new Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Tape Library. Scalable to 3000 cartridge slots, this automated tape environment offers true mixed media, logical and physical partitioning capabilities, advanced management, and high availability. Don't miss the SL3000 virtual tour.
As Storage Expo also has a mini security conference, we had on the floor Sun Ray thin clients and our Sun Secure Global Desktop software.
I've been talking about the “well kept secret” of Sun thin client computing for a while, but now it seems that the secret is getting out. It's hard to ignore the tight security and drastic reductions in power, cooling, and IT management cost that thin clients offer vs. traditional PC networks.
It was gratifying to speak with some of our healthcare customers at Storage Expo and hear first-hand how Sun thin clients are helping them strengthen information security and streamline user access to vital patient data. Read about customer success with Sun Ray solutions.
I hope to see you at one of our next events!
Best regards,
