Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu Services Luxembourg join forces to offer a SWIFT integration solution

To meet the expectations of insurance companies and the financial departments of large companies faced with the problem of integrating their systems with the SWIFT environment, Sun and Fujitsu have joined forces to come up with an integration solution based on Java™ CAPS[1].

As an integrator, Fujitsu Services Luxembourg boasts far-reaching experience of the financial sector and of SWIFT integration, ranging from the technical management of the platform to the overhaul of the business processes to the integration of back-office systems. Sun, for its part, has developed a middleware solution (Java CAPS) that significantly facilitates the integration effort by providing predefined SWIFT message structures as well as connectors towards the various technological environments.

This is a win-win situation for both Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu Services: Sun contributes its know-how of the Java CAPS middleware and Fujitsu its knowledge of the financial flows and its expertise in system implementation.

According to Michel Bovesse, Operations Director, Fujitsu Services Luxembourg: « Fujitsu was on the lookout for an upgradeable integration solution, capable of adapting to the specific needs of each client and based on open standards. Fujitsu opted for a partnership with Sun to offer a solution based on Java CAPS because it fulfilled all of these conditions ».

The solution devised by Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu Services targets banks and financial institutions, the main users of SWIFT, as well as insurance companies whose « Life » divisions have to contend with the same problems, prompting an ever-greater demand for integration solutions.
